What is renewal?

“I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” (Revelation 21:3-5)

Cornerstone is a community shaped by the gospel for the renewal of all things. When we talk about the renewal of all things, we are talking about the biblical expectation that God will renew all of creation (Rev 21:3-5). In light of this, we believe Christians have a mandate to partner with renewal efforts in our time. We approach renewal through local and global channels, focusing on the vulnerable, the marginalized, and the under-evangelized. Below, you can learn more about each channel of renewal at Cornerstone and ways in which you can partner with the renewal of all things.

MAY RENEWAL HIGHLIGHT:

VULNERABLE CHILDREN

“Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’” (Matthew 19:14)

We want to honor Jesus’ word, his love for children and the oppressed, by giving attention to the needs of children in foster care, their families, and foster families.

Foster Care is a temporary living situation for children whose parents cannot currently care for them, and whose removal from a home is imminent. When we serve kids in the foster care system or support the families who are fostering, we provide love, care, support, and stability in seasons of transition and turbulence.

While there are numerous ways to support and bless foster families; here are some that we wanted to put before you this month:

  • Throughout the month of May, we will collect supplies in the lobby for blessing bags. Feel free to bring supplies to the church or to use the QR codes in the lobby to order from our Amazon wishlist.

    • Legacy Family Network - Legacy Family Network is a nonprofit child-placing agency based out of Owasso, Oklahoma. They recruit and support foster families, striving to cultivate an environment where healing occurs on all levels–physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual–for all those impacted by the foster care system.

    • Emergency Infant Services of Tulsa - Emergency Infant Services (EIS) is a Tulsa based nonprofit that serves over 37,000 children and their families annually by providing items such as clothing, formula, diapers, and more. We are currently helping fulfill needs for their Citywide Baby Shower.

  • Join us on Saturday, May 18 from 9:30-11:30 for a workday at Tulsa Hills Youth Ranch. THYR serves kids that have experienced trauma and their families through mentoring and animal therapy. We’ll help on various work projects across their 20 acres. Projects available for all skill levels and ages! Sign up here to let us know you’re coming!

  • You can sign up to receive emails from Care Portal, a tool which sends emails of vetted needs to those looking to bless families in crisis.

  • If you feel called to serve in this area, I’d encourage you to let us know here.
